TOP QUESTIONS
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MASSAGE?
Current research is beginning to validate what most clients already know about massage therapy: it can help ease or prevent many common ailments that are often treated with prescription drugs and/or hospitalization. Massage therapy is based on the ability of the body to naturally heal itself. Massage has been shown to:
• Decrease stress
• Increase circulation
• Release muscle tightness
• Improve joint range of motion
• Release endorphins
• Diminish aches and pains
• Reduce anxiety & depression associated with chronic fatigue syndrome
WHAT TYPE OF CLIENTS HAVE YOU WORKED WITH?
I work with clients who suffer from pain and discomfort associated with many different things. The most common are either chronic pain (caused by what they do for a living or old injuries) or acute pain (injuries that are new). I have also helped clients with nervous system disorders such as Parkinson's, ALS and MS. I provide sessions to help ease the symptoms that these disorders may cause. I also work with clients who are going through chemotherapy and radiation, to help with any pain they may have or to just help them to relax during this time.
I am always open to discussing what you are feeling and how I can help.
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT AN IN HOME SESSION?
Each new client must fill out forms that include a health intake form which remains confidential.
You will remove your clothing to your comfort level; you will always be draped under the linens of the table to ensure your privacy.
Conversation will take place only if you want it to; I want to make sure you are completely relaxed during this time.
Please do not hesitate to ask questions, either before or during the treatment.
Taking a warm shower or bath before the massage will help to loosen muscles and prepare your body for the massage.
To maximize the results of your massage, make plans to relax after the session is done so your body can benefit from it fully.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A BODY SCRUB OR WRAP?
A body scrub is used to scrub away (exfoliate) dead skin cells from the body. Helping it rid of these dead skin cells makes for healthier skin. Main benefit is to cleanse skin and in doing so, the "scrubbing" action also smooths and polishes the skin. A body wrap is a detox treatment that helps rid the body of toxins through metabolic stimulation. You are wrapped in a "cocoon" like covering that traps in heat. Some wraps require you to feel a warm temperature that does not make you sweat. Others, encourage sweating, which can rid the body of excess fluids and toxins. Both provide relaxation and a comforting feeling. It also helps the product being used absorb into the skin more effectively. This type of treatment is not recommended if you are claustrophobic, since you are wrapped snuggly but not tightly for a period of time.
A disposable underwear and bra are worn during the treatment. This ensures your privacy is protected and discretion is given.
Please do not shave or wax within 24 hours prior to these treatments.
DO I NEED TO PROVIDE ANYTHING FOR A SCRUB OR WRAP TREATMENT?
A shower is needed so you can rinse off product when it comes time to do so. I bring everything needed for the treatments. I lay a painters canvas cloth on the floor just in case any product falls on the floor. I keep the area neat and have never had an issue. I take time to explain the steps of the treatment before we begin. An intake form is to be completed by you, which lists things such as allergies or medical conditions I should be made aware of. This helps me to provide a safe and relaxing service for you.
